I trust we will all continue to vote Goldie, repeatedly. Despite the loss, yesterday's game and broadcast were a lot of fun, simply because, in a season which has often seen fandom fractious and fighting against itself,. it seemed like everyone, across all media, came together last night with a single purpose: #VoteGoldy. Yes, it was shameless - or "open and honest," if you prefer. And nothing new, either. I enjoyed the flashback to 2009, when the team organized a push for Mark Reynolds in the final vote - and seeing the younger brother of the fan featured, now diligently voting for Paul! Of course, let's hope that final vote isn't a omen, because I don't recall Mark Reynolds, All-Star... :)
Different look to the team this afternoon, with Ender Inciarte leading off - he's never started a game higher than seventh before. Curiously, even with a left-hander on the mound, the team is still going with Gregorius rather than Chris Owings, though the relegation to 8th spot for Didi does indicate the team is aware of his recent offensive slumpage. Since hitting those lead-off home-runs in his first two games backs, Gregorius is 5-for-31 with an OPS of .464. Part of that may be a BABIP of .200, but probably not all of it, and things aren't going to get much easier for him today, facing a southpaw: he's 1-for-12 there this year.
[Update] With regard to Gregorius:
Owings has an ankle issue. Thinks he'll be fine for Tuesday. RT @BBJRonstadt Why is Gregorius starting over Chris Owings versus a lefty?
