Diamondbacks 3, Reds 4

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

And a series that started so promisingly, implodes, as we lose the last three games to Cincinnati. Wade Miley had trouble with the long ball, but David Peralta (above) had a solid major-league debut, becoming the sixth D-back to start his career with a multi-hit game.

Wade Miley allowed eight hits and walked none over six innings, striking out nine batters. Generally, that'd seem like not a bad afternoon's work. The problem for Wade was, half of those hits had to be thrown back onto the field by spectators. Yep, four home-runs, albeit all solo ones, provided the Reds with just enough offense to stay ahead of the Diamondbacks, and take three out of the four-game series. He allowed two in the third, and single shots in the fourth and fifth. Miley has now allowed fourteen home-runs this season, three more than the next-placed Brandon McCarthy.

After falling three behind, the Diamondbacks tied things up by scoring three of their own in the bottom of the fourth. There were RBI for Miguel Montero, Eric Chavez and Ender Inciarte, the last-name driving in David Peralta after the first hit of his major-league career. Peralta later added another, to join an elite club of D-backs:

Another homer off Miley gave the Reds the lead back immediately, however, Oliver Perez loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, before Addison Reed bailed him out. However, we did no better against Aroldis Chapman this time up, Nick Evans again making the last out.

preston.salisbury will be along with the full recap shortly. He said it was mostly pre-written, so shouldn't be too long. :) We now face the slumping Rockies - which is good, except we have to do it in Coors, where they've been a lot tougher. That series starts tomorrow night.
