Diamondbacks 5, Rockies 4

Josh Collmenter stumbled early on the mound for the Diamondbacks, giving up a two run home run to Carlos Gonzalez in the first inning. The third inning gave him more trouble, too, with a lead off home run to Rockies starting pitcher Jordan Lyles, and then Charlie Blackmon scoring on a wild pitch later in the inning. Collmenter settled down after that, going seven innings before Trevor Cahill relieved him for two 1-2-3 innings.

It seemed early that the damage would be too much for the Diamondbacks offense, as they were generally stymied by Lyles and the Rockies bullpen. Lyles only allowed three hits in his six innings, including a first inning triple by Martin Prado that was wasted when he tried to score on a ground ball. Aaron Hill's fielder's choice with the bases loaded in the sixth broke up the shutout was the only run Lyles allowed.

But things turned around when the Diamondbacks got to the Rockies bullpen. Paul Goldschmidt cut the lead to two with a home run off Adam Ottavino in the eighth, and a ninth inning rally let the Diamondbacks tie it up with runs off of Rex Brothers. A scoreless inning from Addison Reed in the tenth kept the Rockies quiet, and that set up Miguel Montero to hit a walk off home run to give the Diamondbacks a win.
