Towers for the Duration

I have been willing to give Towers the benefit of the doubt. The strategy of finding vets who needed a change of scenery worked for a while. He got D Hernandez for Reynolds, and Aaron Hill for Kelly Johnson. But lightning hasn't struck since then. Upton-Prado was a lot of sound and fury signifying no change--and then there is the shambles that is the pitching staff. The DBacks need to build from within.

Towers should go, but not until the end of the season. Since the line-up is mostly Towers' picks, morale won't be improved by having players worry about their standing with the new guy (or gal!) And it's hard to see a new GM being able to tap into a vein of quality starting pitching that has somehow been overlooked. A new GM, desperate to get results fast, might clean out the stock of prospects.

We will know the end is near when Kendrick starts making opaque statements to the press...
