Game #12: Diamondbacks @ Giants

A genuinely new experience tonight. For the first time in 2014, we reach the final game of a series with a shot at winning the set. Hey, beats the previous three series, certainly...

Randall Delgado
RHP, 0-1, 11.57

Ryan Vogelsong
RHP, 0-0, 9.00

Diamondbacks Lineup

  1. Tony Campana - CF
  2. Aaron Hill - 2B
  3. Paul Goldschmidt - 1B
  4. Martin Prado - 3B
  5. Miguel Montero - C
  6. Mark Trumbo - LF
  7. Gerardo Parra -RF
  8. Cliff Pennington - SS
  9. Bronson Arroyo - P

Will Delgado be able to pitch better than his previous time out, at Coors Field? It'd certainly be nice to win this one, take the series on the road, and head back to Arizona for a meeting with Los Angeles having won three of four and possessing our first winning streak of the year which didn't end after one game. Certainly, it's a better place to pitch - indeed, according to, Delgado is going from the most extreme hitter's park in the major leagues, to the most extreme pitcher's park. So we're certainly expecting much better from him.

The line-up sees Hill back, Prado returning to third, and Campana replacing A.J. Pollock in center, and at the top of the batting order with a right-handed pitcher on the mound. We've done pretty well against Vogelson over the last couple of years: he hasn't beaten the Diamondbacks his last seven tries, going 0-3 with a 6.10 ERA in that time. Hill, in particular, has owned Vogelsong (though not quite to the level of Goldschmidt-Lincecum ownage - then again, who does?), with a line of .563/.611/.813, having gone 9-for-16 with a pair of walks. So, I'm feeling... Well, I had to look these words up in the dictionary, it's been so long, but the words "cautiously optimistic" seem to apply.

soco on the recap, or as much of it as he can manage before collapsing unconscious due to parenthood v2.0. Let's hope the game doesn't have a similar impact on the rest of us!
