After showing tremendous promise in the 2013 season, Matt Reynolds completed successful surgery last week. He will be looking to rehab and rebound in 2014 for the Diamondbacks which will no doubt be a story that Sports Center will watch carefully. His unorthodox delivery has yielded comparisons to Sandy Koufax, Whitey Ford and John Rocker. Reynolds not only was known for getting it done on the field; he was also known for getting it done in the classroom as well as he expanded his knowledge through his medical degree in college. Clearly on his way to the All-Star game with a 1.98 ERA until his miraculous season was cut short, Reynolds is now focusing on giving back to the AZ community. As the dreaded Nationals traveled to phoenix over the weekend, the 6"5" Southpaw from Saint Charles, IL offered the first 50 AZ fans that reached the ballpark a free prostate exam in the Snake locker room. The fans were greeted by Reynolds with a handshake and a smile. All the fans had to do was turn their head and cough while Reynolds gave an all new meaning to his trademark pitch: the split finger. In this brilliant public relations move the fans truly appreciated the care given by the Diamondbacks. After each careful check, Reynolds would then autograph the rubber glove and let the lucky fan keep their prize free of charge.
