Diamondbacks 7, Rockies 2

Doug Pensinger

Trevor Cahill extended his undefeated streak and Chris Owings got three hits in his major-league debut at second, as Arizona rebounded from last night's shaky second half to beat Colorado at Coors.

As last night, the Diamondbacks got on the board early, with an RBI double for Martin Prado and they extended the lead when Tuffy Gosewisch drove in Gerardo Parra in the second. However, unlike last night, they didn't let up, with a four-run third inning, highlighted by Matt Davidson's three-run homer (above). By the end of the night, the D-backs had pounded out 14 hits, with three apiece for Chris Owings and Parra, while Willie Bloomquist and Prado each enjoyed two-hit evenings. Paul Goldschmidt singled in the ninth, driving in his 122nd run of the season.

Trevor Cahill struggled out of the gates, but after escaping a first and third, no outs jam in the first, he settled down nicely. He scattered seven hits over 5.2 innings, but showed much better control this time, with only one walk against five strikeouts. Josh Collmenter and Heath Bell took things the rest of the way, Bell working two innings of scoreless relief. The rubber game of the series is tomorrow afternoon, with Patrick Corbin taking on Juan Nicasio.
