Snake Bytes 9/21: Officially Done

This Guy Isn't Done Yet - Dustin Bradford

The Diamondbacks' postseason chances officially came to an end on Friday night as the Cincinnati Reds won their game and the Diamondbacks surrendered four home runs in their loss to the Colorado Rockies.

Quick Quotes

"We had a lot of opportunities," D-backs manager Kirk Gibson said. "We were 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position. That's been a problem for us for some time. It's got to be addressed. We've got to be better at it."

"We were trying to go down and away and it just spun, and it ended up middle-in, and he just put a good swing on it and hit it out," catcher Wil Nieves said. "We tried to go away and it just didn't break."

"The relievers weren't very effective at all tonight," Gibson said. "You've got to keep the ball down here in Coors Field, and we didn't do a very good job of that."

Rockies Go Long 4 Times in Rout of Diamondbacks

Randall Delgado surrendered only two runs over five innings before being lifted in favour of a pinch hitter. In hindsight, he should have probably been left in. While Willie Bloomquist was unable to capitalize on his pinch-hitting opportunity, Tony Sipp was unable to keep the ball in the park, a criticism often leveled against Delgado. Tied 2-2 going into the sixth, the Diamondbacks came out of the inning down 6-2. The loss came on the same night that Arizona was officially eliminated from postseason play, only one day after having officially lost the NL West.

Diamondbacks Officially Eliminated from Postseason

The odds of Arizona going to the postseason have been exceptionally long for some time now. However, last night those odds officially reached zero as the Cincinnati Reds won their game against the Pittsburgh Pirates

September Evaluations: Owings to Second, Bradley not Coming Up

Diamondback manager wants a chance to see Owings flexibility by playing him at second base while General Manager Kevin Towers says the team's number one prospect, Archie Bradley, will not be making an appearance this year.

Oops!

The Toronto Blue Jays in general, and Colby Rasmus in particular, just can't catch a break this season. Only a week after returning from a month-long stint on the DL, one in which Rasmus put up terrific offensive numbers, the Blue Jays center fielder was struck in the head by a fellow teammate's between-innings warm-up throws. Rasmus was immediately pulled from the game for precautionary measures and will undergo an MRI today.
