Diamondbacks 9, Rockies 2

Ralph Freso

Well, that was refreshing. The Diamondbacks pounded out 16 hits, led by three from Miguel Montero on his bobblehead night, to roll over the Rockies and level the series at Chase

After Roy Oswalt struck out the Diamondbacks in the first, things looked dicey, but Gerardo Parra laced a two-run double in the second, and Colorado didn't come any closer than that the rest of the way. It did take some time, however, with Arizona not scoring again until the sixth, on RBI doubles by Parra and Wade Miley. They added two more in the seventh and another crooked number in the eighth, putting up a three-spot, keyed by a two-run single from Aaron Hill. He and Miguel Montero each had three hits, while Hill and Parra drove in three apiece.

Meanwhile, Miley was largely cruising on the mound: he shut out the Rockies on three hits through six innings, before apparently running out of gas and allowing two runs while retiring one batter in the seventh. Josh Collmenter stopped any threat of a comeback, with David Hernandez and Heath Bell taking things the rest of the way. Miley evened his record at 10-10, being charged with two runs in 6.1 innings, on six hits and a walk, with five strikeouts.

The series finale is tomorrow, with Randall Delgado taking on the spellchecker's nightmare which is Jhoulys Chacin. First pitch is a little after 1pm, Arizona time.
