Diamondbacks 7, Orioles 6

Norm Hall

After Joe Thatcher and Brad Ziegler each blew saves, it was Adam Eaton who came through, his home-run leading off the bottom of the ninth giving the Diamondbacks their eighth walk-off win of the season.

Both sides had the lead twice, only to lose it. The Orioles struck the opening blow, scoring on a wild-pitch in the first, and adding an RBI single in the second. However, Aaron Hill's eighth home-run narrowed the lead, and an unusual play say Gerardo Parra awarded home after obstruction was judged at third-base. Baltimore scored again in the fourth and sixth to take a 4-2 lead, only for Arizona to take the lead in a three-run seventh, courtesy of RBI singles from Adam Eaton, Aaron Hill and Martin Prado.

Wade Miley, who allowed four runs in seven innings was in line for the win at that point. However, it was then our turn to cough up the lead. First, Joe Thatcher gave up a solo home-run to MLB leader Chris Davis, tying the game at five. Then, after Wil Nieves' first bomb of the season had gives the Diamondbacks the lead back in the eighth, Brad Ziegler blew his first save opportunity of the season, giving up a run on two hits and walk in the ninth. But Adam Eaton followed Nieves, also getting his first home-run of 2013, depositing the first pitch from Darren O'Day into the pool, triggering the usual mosh-pit at home.

It's the same two teams tomorrow night at Chase, Randall Delgado taking on Miguel Gonzalez, with the first pitch at 6:40 pm.
