Tyler Skaggs was called up from Triple-A Reno to start tonight's game and oh boy did he deliver. Skaggs pitched a 3 hit shutout over 8 innings with 5 Ks and 1 walk. The offense showed up as well with 10 hits, and A.J. Pollock had a good night going 2-3 with a double and a triple. Paul Goldschmidt extended his lead in RBIs by getting two more.
The Rockies didn't fare quite as well with Jorge De La Rosa being taken for 3 ER over 5.1 innings. Adam Ottavino didn't do a great job in relief of De La Rosa either giving up 2 ER. The Rockies were much worse offensively as they could only muster 3 hits through out the whole game.
J.J. Putz was summoned to pitch the ninth inning, and and threw a perfect ninth inning. The Dbacks looked very encouraging here, which is very good considering these games against the Rockies are very important.
