Diamondbacks 7, Rays 0

After yesterday's complete power outage, the Arizona bats came back to life on Wednesday night in Florida. The offense put up fourteen hits, including home runs from Eric Chavez and Paul Goldschmidt, to score seven runs against Tampa. It was a good team effort from everyone involved- all the starters, save Wade Miley, had at least one hit on the night.

On the mound, Wade Miley kept Tampa Bay off the board, holding them to only two hits over 6.1 innings. The Rays looked to have their best chance to score in the seventh inning, when two walks and a Martin Prado error loaded the bases with one out. But Heath Bell came in from the bullpen to strike out the first two batters he faced, keeping Tampa from scoring. Bell gave up a single in the eighth as he pitched another inning, and J.J. Putz sent the Rays down 1-2-3 in the ninth to shut out Tampa, as Arizona split the two game series.
