Dbacks Minor League Round-Up 5/1: Archie Bradley Promoted To Mobile

Top prospect Archie Bradley is heading to AA Mobile.

Archie Bradley got the not unexpected promotion today when he was assigned to AA Mobile. After dominating in High A Visalia there wasn't much left for Bradley to prove and he takes what is often considered the biggest jump in minor league ball. He'll now be squaring off against many of the top prospects in the game and if there's any question about his ability this is when it's likely to be revealed. It won't be a total surprise if he doesn't show up and dominate right away, but his history thus far doesn't suggest he'll have any major problems. His last start was on April 26th and Mobile was rained out last night and has a doubleheader scheduled for Thursday, so he may be on the mound as early as today.

In last night's games, guess what happened to Reno....right, they got blasted. Guess what happened to starter Randall Delgado....right, he got blasted. Things are not pretty in Reno right now. They need to head out on the road and find some new surroundings. Mobile was rained out and has a doubleheader scheduled for today. Visalia won again in comeback fashion on a 2-out double by Jake Lamb. And South Bend won their 6th in a row (and is 17-6) by overcoming a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3.

Snake Stars
3 Stars: Jake Lamb, Visalia 3 for 5, 1 R, 1 DBL, 2 RBI, GWRBI
2 Stars: Chris Owings, Reno 3 for 5, 1 R, 1 DBL
1 Star: RJ Hively, South Bend 1 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 SV (7)
0 Stars: Eury De La Rosa, Reno 1/3 IP, 5 H, 0 BB, 1 K, 6 R, 3 ER

Triple A: Reno 8 Las Vegas 14. The Aces can't do anything right of late, especially from a pitching perspective. Last night's victim was Randall Delgado who couldn't get past the 4th inning before allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and 5 walks. Eury De La Rosa followed with his worst outing of the year allowing 6 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits to eliminate any chance of a comeback. The offense did score 8 runs but most of that was after the game was out of reach. Chris Owings had another good night at the plate going 3 for 5 with a double. Ed Easley continues to swing a hot bat going 2 for 4 with a home run, his 2nd.

Double A: Mobile - rained out.

High A: Visalia 7 Modesto 6. The Rawhide won in dramatic fashion as Jake Lamb hit a bases-loaded double with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th for the walk-off win. Closer Jake Barrett had previously blown his 1st save and allowed his first runs of the year in the top of the 9th putting Visalia in a 1-run hole. But the offense got him off the hook and made him a winner. Andrew Chafin started and wasn't anything special allowing 3 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings while striking out 1. Gerson Montilla hit his 3rd homer of the season in a 2 for 3 effort. And Yazy Arbelo hit a 3-run bomb in the 1st, his 3rd of the year. It was their 12th home win in a row, their longest such streak since 2004.

Low A: South Bend 4 Quad Cities 3. The Silver Hawks overcame a 3-0 deficit after 4 innings with 2 runs in the 5th and solo tallies in the 6th and 7th, and the pitching buckled down late for the hard-fought win. Daniel Watts started and gave up 3 runs through the first 4 innings, but he settled down and got through 7 innings. He allowed 10 hits on the night but 0 walks and 4 strikeouts to earn the victory. Closer RJ Hively was strong yet again earning his 7th save. Ryan Court went 2 for 4, Kevin Medrano had a double and 2 RBI, and Fidel Pena had a double and 1 RBI.
