Diamondbacks 1, Marlins 2

Balls. - Mike Ehrmann

Wade Miley pitched well, but Rickie Nolasco pitched better, and the Arizona offense sputtered again, as the Diamondbacks were unable to complete the sweep over the Marlins.

Well, I guess I'll do the quick recap, even though I didn't see a single pitch of the game, having been off thoroughly enjoying Star Trek Into Darkness. Sounds like I had a much better time than I would have had, watching this and being frustrated by the Diamondbacks offense, which saw only three bats with runners in scoring position, and couldn't come through in any of them. Having done little against Nolasco, we did break up the shutout in the ninth, on an Jason Kubel sacrifice fly, and got the tying run to third, but A.J. Pollock grounded out. Didi Gregorius had three of Arizona's six hits.

Wade Miley pitched decently, allowing five hits and a walk over six innings. However, the Marlins got all their runs on one swing of the bat, with a two-run double that came with two outs in the sixth, and that proved to be sufficient. Brad Ziegler and Josh Collmenter worked scoreless frames in relief. Still, the Diamondbacks take another road series, and head off to Coors for a three-game set against the Rockies. At least it's a day-game today, so hopefully they won't be as tired as last time they arrived in Denver.

Full guest recap up imminently!
