Diamondbacks 2, Braves 0

USA TODAY Sports

Justin Upton was held hitless, Patrick Corbin spun some magic and Didi Gregorius showed his clutch wasn't broken, driving in both Arizona runs as the D-backs leveled the series at Chase Field.

Patrick Corbin improved his record to 6-0, with seven shutout innings, allowing only three hits. He did walk five batters, but was helped by the defense doing some good work behind him, which included a trio of double-plays. He threw 98 pitches, struck out five batters and reduced his season ERA to 1.52. After him, it was over to David Hernandez and Heath Bell: both put the tying run on base, with one and zero outs respectively,. but they settled down thereafter to retire the remaining hitters in order.

The Diamondbacks offense continued to struggle, particularly with runners in scoring position, where they went 1-for-5. However, Didi Gregorius delivered the biggest hit of the night, singling back up the middle with runners on second and third, to score all Arizona's runs tonight. Eric Chavez had two hits and the only walk for the Diamondbacks, who were held to three runs or less for the sixth consecutive home game, now tied for the fourth longest streak in franchise history. However, they've gone 3-3 in that time, so the pitching staff has been getting it done.

It's a day game tomorrow, with a first pitch at 12:40. Ian Kennedy taken on Tim Hudson at Chase Field, in the deciding game of the series.
