Quotes of the Day
Trevor Cahill has thrown eight shutout, is at 82 pitches and has retired 14 of past 15. He's due up third in the bottom of the eighth.— Nick Piecoro (@nickpiecoro) May 1, 2013
Wow, nice job Trevor!
Sure, he might as well close it out.
What a shame. Cahill was pitching an absolute gem - he needed only 82 pitches through 8 inning - before the bullpen coughed up another late inning lead. It seems at this point a change at closer, at least on a temporary basis, is imminent.
Paul Goldschmidt has been more selective at the plate this year, swinging at only 23% of pitches outside the zone, a reduction of about 5% from last year. Seems to be working well for the young slugger.
Didi has undergone various tests for lingering effects of the concussion he suffered a few days ago and has been cleared to resume baseball activities.
