Dbacks Minor League Round-Up 4/6: Reno Loses 15-Inning Heartbreaker

Charles Brewer started the season off right with a solid 6-inning effort in his season debut. - Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

Saturday night was the night of the comeback, two in our favor and one against. Reno dropped a 15-inning heartbreaker after taking the lead in the top of the 15th on a hit by relief pitcher Garret Mock, only for Evan Marshall to lose it in the bottom half when he surrendered two. Mobile earned their first win of the year when they scored 6 runs off Mississippi's relief corps to earn a 6-5 win. And South Bend scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to win 6-5.

Triple A: Reno 2 @ Colorado 3 (15 inn). A pitcher's duel erupted in Colorado (of all places) as Reno fought all the way through 15 innings before losing 3-2. Charles Brewer started and was outstanding with 1 run allowed on 5 hits and a walk in 6 innings while striking out 5. A gaggle of Ace relievers took it all the way to the 15th when relief pitcher Garrett Mock delivered an infield single to score the go-ahead run. Evan Marshall came on to try and nail down the save but gave up 5 hits and a walk to hand the game to the Sky Sox. Chris Owings had 3 hits including 2 doubles. Taylor Harbin and Tyler Kuhn each added a pair of singles.

Double A: Mobile 6 @ Mississippi 5. The Mobile offense couldn't solve Braves prospect Alex Wood as he tossed 5 innings of 1-hit shutout ball. But they came alive against the Braves' bullpen scoring 2 in the 7th and 4 in the 8th for the one-run victory. Anthony Meo started and got roughed up some as he could only get through 4 innings while allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks. Brent Clevlen delivered the decisive blow with a 2-run homer with 2 outs in the 8th inning to take the lead. Kevin Munson pitched 2 stellar innings of relief to earn his first save of the year. Jon Griffin went 3 for 3 with a triple.

High A: Visalia 2 San Jose 6. Not a good night for the Rawhide as starter Keith Hessler surrendered 4 runs through 5 innings while the offense was only able to manage 4 hits. On the bright side Seth Simmons pitched 3 scoreless innings in relief allowing no hits or walks while striking out 4.

Low A: South Bend 6 Bowling Green 5. The Silver Hawks conducted a furious late rally with 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to eke out a one-run, come-from-behind victory. Kyle Schepel started and was fairly effective holding Bowling Green to 3 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks over 6 innings while striking out 5. The game looked out of reach when J.R. Bradley came on in the 8th and surrendered 2 more runs to make it 5-1. But back-to-back 2-out doubles by Frazier Hall and Roidany Aguila plated the last of 5 runs in the inning to make Bradley the winner. Hall had 2 hits on the night with 3 RBI. Socrates Brito had 2 more hits including a triple and an RBI. And Kevin Medrano picked up where he left off last year with his usual multi-hit game consisting of a pair of singles.
