The offense pounded out 13 hits, with Paul Goldschmidt leading the way: he scored three runs, and drove in two with a pair of hits, including his second home-run of the season, but seven Diamondbacks had multi-hit games. Kubel's blast was his first of the year, and Aaron Hill also went deep, a solo shot in the eighth, which let him a triple short of the cycle. The Diamondbacks took advantage of some sloppy Brewers' defense; the home side committed three errors, leading to a pair of unearned runs. They also struck out three times, the lowest total in 73 games dating back to July 27.
Corbin scattered eight hits and a walk over six innings of work, but was helped by the Brewers ineffectiveness with runners in scoring position. After he left the game, Arizona fans held their breath as Heath Bell entered with "only" a six-run lead to protect, but this outing was largely without incident and scoreless. Matt Reynolds worked a scoreless eighth, and Tony Sipp did the same to close things out for the D-backs, who moved to 4-1, and will go for the sweep in the series finale tomorrow..
