I was just trying to get a good pitch to hit and luckily it just found a hole. It wasn’t a bad swing, but I was way out in front and kind of capped it off the end of the bat. Luckily it kind of spun away from their second baseman and went through the hole.
You can’t take Goldschmidt out of the lineup. Why would you do that? I understand. If he ever wants to start me, I’ll go in there and do what I can. But I’m happy with my role.
-- Eric Hinske
Of all the organizations I have worked for, I have never been treated better by anybody than the Diamondbacks have treated me. So I cried about four times. That’s how emotional it was. It’s kind of sad, but it’s a happy sadness.
Diamondbacks Quick Pitches
It wasn’t the prettiest walk-off hit in team history, but it was the first of Goldschmidt’s major league career and it gives the Diamondbacks a ton of confidence as they get ready to hit the road.
Amidst the late inning drama encompassing Chase Field Saturday night, D-Backs manager Kirk Gibson took a reprieve to remind Trevor Cahill what he wanted from him Sunday. Cahill acknowledged that when Gibson did the same thing last year, it resulted in a good outing, but he prefers to not think about baseball or else he can’t fall asleep.
The Diamondbacks returned two players to the field in Sunday’s 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, but only one finished the game. Aaron Hill started at second after missing two games and being confined to pinch-hitting Saturday due to a bone bruise in his left hand, but he left the game in the fourth with soreness in his left wrist. Cody Ross started in right field and played his first full major-league game of the season after starting on the 15-day disabled list with a calf injury.
A.J. Pollock doesn't overwhelm with one outstanding tool. He isn't flashy. He's just a solid, dependable, hard-working baseball player.
The D-backs honored the 58-year broadcasting career of Joe Garagiola Sr. in a special pregame ceremony on Sunday before the club took on the Dodgers at Chase Field. Garagiola, who announced his retirement on Feb. 20, spent 15 seasons as a color analyst for the D-backs.

The 4th ever triple-header in baseball history?
Marc Carig tweets that Horwitz was having some fun, so this was just a fun imaginative exercise in the end. Triple headers are now prohibited under the current collective bargaining agreement, except when the first game is the conclusion of a game suspended from a prior date. This would only happen in the extremely rare case of the only remaining dates between teams being doubleheaders and no single games are left for the suspended game to precede.
Jacket 1, Jose Fernandez 0.
The file name says it all.

A pretty good indicator as to why the Giants are 9-4.
