FRENCHIE! And, yes, he is in the line-up, batting fifth. So if you go, say hello to him for us! Hopefully, this one will go rather better than the last time we faced Kansas City.
"It is spring training, after all. It's not like we're looking up the standings every day. But on the other hand, it's nice to win. It's always nice to win. At the end of the day, it's better than losing."
-- Royals GM, Dayton Moore
The Diamondbacks go back to the Cactus League, and hopefully will remember where they put there bats. It could be a tall order this afternoon, as the Kansas City Royals have yet to taste defeat this spring, with a record of 10-0; the only game they didn't win was a 5-5 tie with the Rangers, in their first game of the season. Since then, it has been ten straight wins, including a 16-4 pounding of the Diamondbacks on Feb. 25. KC have been getting done it with both the bat and the ball: they lead the majors both in batting average, where they have been hitting .340, and ERA, where they have posted a 2.91 ERA [They trail the slugging Mariners in OPS]
Can Arizona put together a rather better performance than last time we faced the Kansas City, and succeed where no other team has yet done so this year? Here's our line-up
- Adam Eaton, RF
- Cliff Pennington, SS
- Mark Teahen, 3B
- Paul Goldschmidt, 1B
- Eric Hinske, DH
- Rod Barajas, C
-
Brad Snyder, LF
- Josh Wilson 2B
-
Tony Campana, CF
+ pitchers Trevor Cahill, Patrick Corbin, Matt Reynolds, Rommie Lewis, Tony Sipp, Garrett Mock and Bo Schultz.
