After being told he wasn't going to make the Seattle Mariners roster out of camp, former Diamondbacks pitcher Jon Garland asked to be released from the club. A few hours later, the Colorado Rockies, our Salt River Fields counterparts and fellow National League West league mates, signed Garland to a Major League deal, a $500,000 base salary with incentives. To make room for Garland on the Rockies' roster, the team returned left-handed reliever Danny Rosenbaum to the Nationals. He's a player the Rockies had selected in the Rule 5 Draft.
