Post-season Gameday Thread #13: Championship Saturday

Alex Trautwig

Well, managed to space yesterday's NLCS game entirely from my consciousness. So, apparently, did every other SnakePit writer. But it ended well enough, with the Dodgers being walked-off on by the Cardinals.

Clayton Kershaw
LHP, 16-9, 1.83

Michael Wacha
RHP, 4-1, 2.78

1:07pm Arizona time, TBS. Cardinals lead 1-0.
Very happy to see the Cardinals taking the first game: that lifts any feeling that they "have" to beat Kershaw, which is not something any opponent would want. Both teams will want their starters to go deep into the game, with the bullpens having worked five (Dodgers) and seven (Cardinals) innings yesterday. That may give Los Angeles a slight edge, with St. Louis having used more arms, but with Kershaw on the mound - one earned run over 13 innings against Atlanta - they may not need much relief. Wacha, however, has been equally good: his last two starts have been no-hitters into the eighth or later. I'm taking the under on runs in this one.

Anibal Sanchez
RHP, 14-8, 2.57

Jon Lester
LHP, 15-8, 3.75

5:07pm Arizona time, Fox. Series opener
The Red Sox will want to get things going against Sanchez, who proved very hittable in his post-season debut against the Athletics - especially considering they'll then be facing Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander in the next couple of games. Boston has had several days off, having clinched their Division Series against Tampa on Tuesday: will this leave them fresh or rusty? I don't really have a dog in this particular fight, so am curious who SnakePitters want to win. I'd simply rather whoever does win, do so in a sweep, so they can get their rotation lined up as favorably as possible, in case they need to beat the Dodgers in the World Series. Thoughts?
