Do you like movies? What about baseball? If so, then MLB Network has a treat for you.
Bob Costas, he of perennial boyish looks and great baseball anecdotes, will be hosting a series of baseball films that will include interviews with key members of the productions. First up is Cobb, a film starring Tommy Lee Jones as an Iowan farmer turned politician fighting for ethanol subsidies. Just kidding, it's a biopic about Ty Cobb, natch. Below is the schedule:
- January 14th - Cobb, with special guest Tommy Lee Jones
- January 21th - Bad News Bears, with special guest Tatum O'Neil
- January 28th - A League of Their Own, with special guests Geena Davis and Penny Marshall
- February 4th - Eight Men Out, with special guest John Sayles
- February 11th - the Natural, with special guest Barry Levinson
I'm pretty excited about this, because I'm a nerd. Anyone else interested in this?
[Jim adds] Yes, that sounds like it should be interesting. Indeed, if there's interest, maybe we can run a "Gameday Thread" for the film, and everyone watching it can chip in with comments as things unfold? Of course, maybe it'll just end up being me and soco dropping movie references on each other, but if there's sufficient enthusiasm expressed between now and Monday night, I'll throw up a thread....
