I'm going to keep this short because there doesn't seem to be much to say beyond "slump", I just found it interesting the transformation Jason Kubel has gone through. On July 22nd, the peak of his season, his triple slash line looked like this:
.300/.372/.585, 21 HR, 71 RBI
The much loathed Gerardo Parra replacement has become the saviour of our mediocre team! I do believe I even saw (here or otherwise) a comparison of the Kubel deal to the Carlos Beltran deal. However, it seems he's jumped off a cliff since that date almost two months ago, posting a triple slash line of:
.163/.235/.367, 8 HR, 15 RBI (not including today's pinch hit appearance)
This has dropped his current season line to:
.253/.325/.509
Even more dismal are his lines for August/September:
.159/.227/.364
.140/.196/.372
I'm not quite sure how you'd explain this. His K% Has actually dropped from 33% in July to 25% in August and 28% in September. However, his BB% of 11.2% in July has led to BB%s in August/September of 7.2%/6.5%.
I don't know what happened, but at least he's going to hit 30 home runs, right?
