Relief pitcher Sam Demel has been called up from the Triple-A Reno Aces for tonight's game. He takes the roster spot of Stephen Drew, who was traded late last night to the Oakland Athletics.

Interestingly, Demel came to Arizona in another trade with the A's, this one for Conor Jackson in 2010. He made his major league debut the day he arrived, and spent parts of 2010 and 2011 with the Diamondbacks, compiling a 4.88 ERA and two saves in 71 games. This year for Reno, the right-handed Demel is 1-4 with a 4.60 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 51 games.
