Hmm, what happened to the series preview? BattleMoses, you got some 'xplaining to do... Well, it was the Astros, so I suppose it could simply have been a picture of a broom. Because, as Nick Piecoro put it, this is probably as close to a "must-sweep series" as any.you'll ever see. The Astros are on pace for 109 losses, and that's including the games played before their roster was gutted at the trading deadline. That said, their home record has been a respectable 27-32. - that's better than the Phillies this year, for instance - so we shouldn't take it lightly. That way lies things like the Cubs series, just after the All-Star break, where we were swept, scoring a total of three runs.
Line-up after the jump, 'charmer on the recap.
- Chris Young CF
- Jake Elmore SS
- Aaron Hill 2B
- Paul Goldschmidt 1B
- Justin Upton RF
- Chris Johnson 3B
- Gerardo Parra LF
- Wil Nieves C
- Wade Miley.P
Jason Kubel was a late scratch from the line-up today, due to a neck problem,. which is why we've got Parra in there against a left-handed pitcher. With the Dodgers facing the Braves, we've got to narrow the gap this weekend - put simply., there will not be any as favorable series the rest of the way. Last night was a heroic comeback against a tough opponent, but this is a statement series for the Diamondbacks. We're only 31-27 against teams with losing records: we really need to leave Houston 34-27.
