SnakePit Fantasy Baseball: Week 18

Easy victories for the top three teams in the league, but further down the ladder, towards the bottom end of the playoff spots, things are getting interesting. Only four weeks left in the regular season... Here are the quick results: details, standing and upcoming contests are after the jump.

AZ SnakePit 4, The Fighting Amish 6
Mizzoula Osprey 8, Sofa King Juiced 2
Alabama Slammers 7, Blonde Streaks 3
Los Wailoracles 2, MyWieterGetzLongoria 8
soco knows 4, Waffles 6
Phoenix Platypi 3, Ignatius J. Rallies 5
Lil Bitches 4, CompleteGameShutout 5

AZ SnakePit 4, The Fighting Amish 6
The Amish swept pitching, Nova's W + 15 K for AZ bested by Verlander's Win and 22 strikeouts along with an 0.60 ERA - Fighting's figure was 2.44. However, the SnakePit nearly did the same on hitting, behind Cabrera's two HR + seven RBI - Morse had three HR for Amish, who took BA by .008, and with it, the game.

Mizzoula Osprey 8, Sofa King Juiced 2
Sofa's implosion continues: they're 3-16-1 over two weeks, and are now in the dogfight for the post-season. Their pitching again struggled, with a 6.78 ERA, though Westbrook got two W. Otherwise, the Osprey rolled, behind two W + 12 K for Gallardo, four Saves by Rodney, and three home-runs from Morales.

Alabama Slammers 7, Blonde Streaks 3
Blonde find themselves in serious relegation danger, not having won for six weeks. Betancourt had three Saves for them, but the Slammers countered with a W and 16 strikeouts by Capuano, with Corbin notching a Win + 14 K. Headley added three home-runs and 11 RBI on offense, cementing an easy victory.

Los Wailoracles 2, MyWieterGetzLongoria 8
Los have just one victory in 19 attempts, and this week went no better - playing four men short will do that. They did get three HR from Gordon and 14 RBI by Gonzalez, but Wieter had three HR and seven RBI by Machado, with Weaver delivering a Win and 14 strikeouts on the mound. Trout also drove in seven.

soco knows 4, Waffles 6
Waffles moved in to a post-season spot and haven't been beaten since Week 12. A strong pitching performance was key, McAllister and Gonzalez getting a W and seven strikeouts apiece. soco got three Saves from Rodney and three HR by Wieters, but Zimmerman (six R, 9 RBI) proved enough for Waffles.

Phoenix Platypi 3, Ignatius J. Rallies 5
Rallies prevailed, but two categories (HR and W) were tied, while they took SB by one and BA by .003. Jennings (nine R, .474, two SB) was perhaps their Most Valuable Player, despite Hitter of the Week Butler, who had four HR. Phoenix had Pitcher of the Week Sale (two W, 18 K) and three HR from Hamilton.

Lil Bitches 4, CompleteGameShutout 5
The week's closest game saw neither side get more than one Save, and that was enough to give Complete the edge. Lester (W and 16 K) led their pitchers, countered by a W and 13 strikeouts by Cain for Lil. At the plate, Beltran and Morneau (Shutout) each had three HR; Altuve stole four and hit .320 for Lil.

It's Osprey vs. Amish in the ESPN Game of the Week, second-placed taking on fourth. With Dickey (#7) and Cabrera (#10), Mizzoula have two of the top ten players this season - but Amish can say exactly the same, courtesy of Braun (#4) and Verlander (#5). Should be a good match-up, and possibly a rehearsal for a playoff contest?
