Remember when Strasburg was The Next Big Thing? Well, he still pretty much is, having put together a fine sophomore season for the Nationals. Perhaps more surprisingly. he's just one part of an impressive rotation which looks almost certain to bring a playoff game to our nation's capital for the first time since the 1933 Washington Senators lost the World Series to the New York Giants. Heck, 13 more victories and it'll be the first time there's been winning baseball there since Frank Howard hit 48 homers for the 1969 Senators. Between there and Pittsburgh, could be quite a year for long-suffering fans.
Line-up and stuff after the jump. 'charmer on the recap, as she just remembered...
- Stephen Drew SS
- Aaron Hill 2B
- Jason Kubel LF
- Paul Goldschmidt 1B
- Justin Upton RF
- Miguel Montero C
- Chris Johnson 3B
- Gerardo Parra CF
- Trevor Cahill P
If you missed it in Clefo's preview, worth mentioning these two faced off in high-school. As shown below in Nick's Tweet, Cahill came out ahead there, so hopefully the result will be just as pleasing this time.
Cahill vs. Strasburg tonight. Not the first time. Found on U-T site from their high school days. utsandiego.com/uniontrib/2006… twitter.com/nickpiecoro/st…
