Stephen Drew was just called into manager Kirk Gibson's office. Door closed.— Nick Piecoro (@nickpiecoro) July 30, 2012
Of course, this could be an entirely innocuous discussion, revolving around Drew's unfortunate fondness for flicking the n00bs on the roster with wet towels or something like that. But when it happens the day before the trade deadline, and your name has already surfaced in discussions with other teams, little things like this tend to become more than slightly magnified, shall we say. Buster Olney still reckons it's possible.
D-Backs' talks of Stephen Drew to Oakland continue to have life. Could make sense for both sides.— Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) July 30, 2012
On the other hand, Peter Gammons says the following:
For today, A's backed off on Drew and Escobar and won't trade Straily in Headley deal— Peter Gammons (@pgammo) July 30, 2012
which would imply that if Drew is going somewhere, it might not be to the Athletics. We'll see what unfolds as the evening, and tomorrow, proceed. It's probably nothing

#Dbacks Stephen Drew left Gibson's office. Not packing his stuff so looks like false alarm.
