In what was rumored and expected after Ryan Roberts was DFA'd earlier today, he was dealt to the Tampa Bay Rays for SS/2B Tyler Bortnick, who will report to Triple-A Reno. Roberts is expected to get a lot of playing time with the Rays as Evan Longoria is still sidelined.
Going by his B-R page, the 25 year old Bortnick is a speedster, accumulating 131 steals in four minor league seasons. He was in his first year of Double-A with the Montgomery Biscuts in the Southern League. He was hitting .253/.352/.385 with 4 homers and 48 RBIs
