After three poor outings and one good one, our first Bauer hour in the major leagues has been brought to an end. FS Arizona is reporting on Twitter that the DBacks have sent Trevor Bauer back down to Reno, obviously to continue working on his pitching. Bauer seemed pretty inconsistent in his starts- he looked great against the Dodgers and had flashes of greatness in his other appearances, but he didn't seem to have the control he needed. He had a 6.06 ERA and while his 17 Ks in 16.1 innings pitched were good, his 13 walks in the same span weren't. I'm pretty sure we'll see Bauer back later this season, though.
In his place, the DBacks have called up Jonathan Albaladejo to the bullpen. It looks like Albaladejo has been working as Reno's closer this season. He has 17 saves in 35 appearances and an ERA of 3.35 in the PCL this season. This naturally leaves us with a hole in the rotation- Nick Piecoro speculated on Twitter that we might see Josh Collmenter make a move back from the bullpen. He's probably earned the spot, Josh has really recovered nicely from his rough April and has been a solid presence for the team since the start of May- a 1.30 ERA across 41.2 innings between the bullpen and the rotation since May 1st.
