Hey Gibson ... heard of bunts?

Stay connected for news and updates

I guess Kirk Gibson is an A.L. "wait for the 3 run homer" type of manager. Last night, he had runners on first and second with no outs and proceeded to watch his next three batters strike out, after the DBacks had fought back to within (2) runs AT HOME!! That way of managing cost the Dbacks in the final game in the playoffs last year, too. Remember that inning? Same situation, and a double play and strike out ended the Dbacks season.I've coached baseball teams, and if you told me I could start every inning with runners on second and third with one out, I'd take it all day. If your hitters can't bunt ???? really?? ... coach 'em up a little!! The truth is, Gibson allows players to hit for their own stats instead of what is best for the team. I guess he's a "player's manager" as they say? Oh yeah ... they all love him ... as we watch another season go down the drain. The Dbacks are going nowhere. When a team is losing a bunch of one run games, start looking at the manager's decisions, folks.
