I posted the following:
Number 11) the fans themselves. While attendance has dragged a bit, that is changing rapidly. D’Backs fans are a rather diverse bunch, and while more ‘laid back’ than in other locales, they bring it all to the game and stay until after the final pitch.

Well thanks NASCAR!
To be honest, I actually have never left a game early, no matter the score, much to my family’s chagrin

You never leave early
If I left games early just because we were getting routed, I never would have seen Mark Grace pitch…

Oh yeah
And I am proud to say that I have been to Dodger Stadium to see games on a few occasions and I haven’t ONCE left early. I even got there on time. That’s how they knew I wasn’t from around there.

I have been late to Dodger stadium before.
I was with some Dodger fans, who decided to go to a bar prior to the game, then didnt have the tickets yet, waiting 3 innings at will-call. Then we had tickets to ghetto-ville (outfield bleachers). Worst game experience I ever attended. And to top it off, they wanted to leave early to go back to, guess where.
I didn't leave early at the one Dodger game I went to.
Of course, I was 8 and my father had taken me. He was just enjoying being at the game instead of at work, so he was quite happy to stay the entire time.
Great article everyone
I think we did a pretty good job. Kudos to Jim for the writing part, too

Kudos to Mr. Jim for.....
Letting us have input on this. Sometimes he really is a good guy. I was sad to see the wave wasn’t on there but my boy coming it at 8th made up for it. God I cant wait for the season to start. Life without D’Backs baseball sucks.
I especially liked
NASCAR’s response of if you don’t like it, you can always be a Dodger fan

If that's what you were going for
you needed to mention Chris Chase a few times

It's a more open forum
than here…that’s for sure. Which is why I chose to share and develop some thoughts there. And it’s got a larger readership and reputation, which I imagine is one reason why you spent a fair amount of time and effort to hone an essay for publication there.
Reporters asked the Phillies' skipper how his pitcher had managed to injure himself in his sleep. "I don’t know," Manuel said. "I didn’t sleep with him."

Please continue to develop them there.

Cool to see it on Yahoo.

Are you referring to me?
Assuming I “hate the team” reflects either a lack of understanding and/or a definition of “team” that’s much broader than I (and many baseball fans) susbscribe to.
cheers

I don't comment on Yahoo
I have a browser add-on that blocks the cookies that track you around the web, and their site doesn’t work well unless you let them do so.
Anyway, agreed with some of the piece, and disagreed with other parts. I’d be hesitant to praise the D’Backs for not bankrupting municipalities for their spring training center, considering they hustled Pima County into putting tax money up for Tucson Electric, then let most of the star players avoid playing “home” spring games in TEP, and finally abandoned the field and the taxpayers’ investment altogether. It’s one reason I won’t give the organization any money by attending games. As a taxpayer in Pima County, they already took enough out of my pocket. At least the Rockies used an older field down here, which is now being leased by U of A for their baseball games. The D’Backs and White Sox insisted on shiny and new and taxpayer-funded. Love the players. Like the game. Won’t give the FO a penny.
Couple of points
Not many of the current FO were involved in the “hustling” – you need to speak to Jerry C and his pals about the shenanigans in the mid-90’s [which weren’t confined to Tucson, e.g. the sales tax increase, which the voters didn’t get a voice in, that paid for Chase…].
As for the departure, your beef is really with the White Sox. Their departure, leaving Tucson with only two teams, kicked in a lease condition that allowed the D-backs to move out too. And, in general, the Tucson government did very little to either retain the existing teams or make any attempt to attract others. They treated spring training as a cash cow, to be milked until it ran dry, from what I’ve read….

This is pretty much true.
Its one reason I hate the White Sox so much.
I hated watching the Dbacks leave Tucson, but they really seemed to try to work with Pima County (and Tucson).
And, I only saw a handful of games during the spring, but I dont remember missing out on the star players. It was spring training though, so you do get a lot of unknowns out there.
