Daron Sutton, Mark Grace Will Not Return to Broadcast Booth

In what comes as no surprise, Derrick Hall announced this afternoon that the team is searching for two new broadcasters for next season.

In this afternoon's press conference, CEO Derrick Hall announced that neither Daron Sutton nor Mark Grace will return to the Diamondbacks broadcast booth. Greg Schulte, who handled play-by-play since mid-June, will return to the radio side. The team is searching for two new television broadcasters for next season.

In June, Daron Sutton was suspended for "personnel reasons." Hall did not elaborate this afternoon, simply saying there were "philosophical differences in broadcasting" and that they were "going in a different direction." Sutton took over the play-by-play duties in 2007, after Thom Brenneman left for Cincinnati.

In August, Mark Grace was arrested for a DUI, his second in two years. Police are seeking "aggravated DUI" charges against him. Grace retired from baseball in 2003 and has been the color broadcaster since 2004.

Shortly after Grace's suspension, our own Jim McLennan discussed possible replacement broadcasters. Hall said he hopes to have a replacement team within the next three weeks.

No word on whether or not "Racing Gracie" (pictured above) will remain with the legends.
