Diamondbacks Claim Craig Tatum Off Waivers; 40 man roster full
This comes from a Keith Law tweet. The 28 year old will add depth to our back stop behind Miggy and Blanco. The Diamondbacks have confirmed the news here and have also announced that with this move, the 40 man roster is now full.
"[He's a] good catch-and-throw guy, and some people that knew him in the Baltimore system said some good things about him," Towers said. "He's good people, and he can hold his own behind the plate."

You should hang out here more!
there’s been plenty of baseball here. Granted, much of it has been talk about the past season or the upcoming season, in other words, not much new, but it’s been better than nothing

I'd say any
kind of hit is not his thing.

That's where I was born...
But I’m ditching the east coast for AZ or Cali next year hopefully.
Yeah, what Bcawz said
think of California as one great big Prince George County.

Nice
I assume from his stat line that he is good with the glove, and hopefully at calling a game/managing a pitcher. WIth all the pitching talent we have in the minors, I don’t mind sending them a high character catcher to toss with.

Out of options
He’s a guy who needs an injury to either Montero or Blanco to make the club, and he’ll need to go through DFA waivers without being claimed by another team in order to remain with the club.
Probably will, though, unless another team has an injury hole at the exact same time we DFA him.

Maybe Towers Was Blowing Smoke
when he mentioned Schmidt as part of the organization’s depth at catcher (not that there is really any depth now organization-wide).
Speaking of depth

i love the comment about risk aversion lol
it’s totally how i feel about KT also
that being said, it’s also interesting that the catching depth in free agency next year is tremendous. also lots of great up-and-coming catchers in the minors (D’Arnaud, which also makes Arencibia available, Mesoraco, Grandal, Norris, Rosario). this should help drive down the price of Montero’s extension. and even if we can’t extend Montero, i think we can get a decent alternative.

Being unable to extend Montero...
after some of this off-season’s moves would really, really make me angry. Montero should have been more pressing than Bloomquist for 2 or McDonald for 2 or Kubel for 2. Way, way more pressing.
