Not-so-OT Sunday: SnakePitSpringTrainingFest!!!

Photo

Time to put the wheels into motion for the one or more SnakePitSpringTrainingFests - hereafter referred to as SPSTF - which will be taking place during the Cactus League. However, the most official event will be Saturday March 24. There are several reasons for this choice:
1) It's a Saturday
2) It's an evening game, so we won't have to endure the worst of the (literally) blistering sun.
3) It's against Kansas City, which means one thing: FRENCHIE!

We will be picnicking on the lawn in right field, showing Messrs. Upton and Francoeur some love, in the way only the SnakePit know how. Tickets are $8 plus the inevitable Ticketbastard fees (which I've just seen, work out at close to 50% if you buy two tickets - really, WTF?), available here - you're all responsible for your own purchases.

Full schedule and more thoughts after the jump.

We are certainly open to attending other games - already bought tickets for the March 12th game over by SnakePit Towers in Goodyear. I have heard rumors that 'charmer is also looking to be in the area, so there's a very good chance of a supplemental SnakePitSpringTrainingFest (or SSPSTF...) being arranged for that in due course. But generally, feel free to use this thread for discussion. What games are you going to?

JENFEST2012!!!

YES! I AM coming to down, and more details on that itself later when I know more. I’ll be in town for two games, March 5th and 6th. One game I’d like to sit closer to home plate, but have no problem being farther out, or on the lawn, heckling for another one of those games, whichever more people can attend.

I know they’re weekdays, but that’s just the way my schedule works. :P

WHO’S IN????

I hope you’ll get to more games at Chase too. I love that park as well as I love Coors Field ;) 2 great parks ;)

Woo-hoo!

Open to either at this point – don’t work Mon or Tue. [Ah, the joys of 4×10 hr work-weeks] If it’s lawnish, we can just get our own, otherwise we should probably liaise on the ticketing thing…

Weekend games

Are all I can do except for a Thursday or Friday night game since I work during the week and being a newbie, I won’t have time off for a while.

I shall inform Mr Asteroid of the plans.

We’re also looking at the first Sunday game and the Sunday game vs the Angels (because how much more opportunity will we get to watch Pujols now that he’s in the AL?).

Somehow my clients expect me to work during the week. How very rude of them. (On the other hand I have 3pm Thursday teleconferences… surely they will not notice the crowd noises in the background? I’ll just tell them it’s the cats.)

Don't know if I can make it

SRF is a long way from where I live in the west valley. I work until 5:30pm on Saturdays. We shall see, I guess.

I may be up for some Sunday games. Although, with Sunday being my only day off I will have to see how busy I am going to be.

Hmmmm, I will seriously think about the SnakePitFest on that Saturday. Can’t really beat $8. Er, sorry, I meant $12-ish. Thanks Ticketmaster.

If I go to the game, I may try getting tickets in the seats

That hard grass wreaks havoc on my knee and it’s hard for me to get up once I’ve sat sown. I sat out in the left field grass when my childhood buddy and her family were out here from Colorado last ST and we got tickets out there. We sat up near the top but I really had trouble getting up off that grass. It would be easier on my knee to be in the chairs where I can get up and out easier and quicker when I need things. But…if you guys do indeed sit in the grass and I go to that game, I can always come say hi at least.

I miss you Bazooka Joe!!!

I have wicked Cabin Fever, miss baseball like crazy

And must entertain a 3 month old. All. The. Time.

So basically… Are there season tickets for Spring Training? I’ll be there whenever you want, where ever you want. Just let me know.

The 24th sounds perfect. Frenchie will probably laugh maniacally. Or call security. :) Either way, WE WIN!

What was your least favorite part?

For us, lowlights included long lines, running out of food, and seeing Matt Williams in lieu of that adoooorable Tyler Florence.

Reporters asked the Phillies' skipper how his pitcher had managed to injure himself in his sleep. "I don’t know," Manuel said. "I didn’t sleep with him."

1 hr, 3 lines, 2 pulled pork sandwiches that weren't at a safe temp.

They needed many more trucks or a mandate on number of employees/amount of food.

As my wife

has noted above I’m down for the FrencieSpringFest on the 24th, and one of the JenFest games. I’m not really certain how many more games I’ll be able to go to between work, school, and an infant, but we’ll see.

Tomorrow is another day.

Ugh

I can’t go to the Official Spring fest. BUT I might be able to swing the JennyFest that’s going to be in the grass, but I’ll have to consult the my personal ATM Mom about that. I’ll get back to you

When I was growing up

my mom didn’t like baseball. She never ever went to any of my games. Now,, in her 70s, she insists I take her to Diamondback games. She feels its something she missed out on when she was younger and regrets it. Its not like you’re trying to take her to a mosh pit (if they still have those).

They may not be grass seats :)

Depending on how many people can make it, we may sit in real seats. (Well, most of us. ;))
