OT Sunday: Back at 2011, and forward to 2012
Despite the timing on this post, I'm not actually sitting in front of my computer as 2011 turns into 2012. I'm probably in the living-room with Mrs. SnakePit and SnakePit Jr. swigging alcohol [all hail the SB Nation post scheduler!] Anyway: so that was 2011 and this was 2012.
- How was 2011 for you overall? Good, bad, indifferent?
- What moments will stick most in your mind:
a) personally
b) as a Diamondbacks fan
c) on a national or global level? - How did you take in the New Year?
- What are your New Year's Resolutions?
- Make three predictions for the 2012 Diamondbacks.
- As we all know, the world will come to an end on December 21st, 2012 - likely triggered by the Cubs winning the World Series. How do you think the end will happen?

Happy new year!
1. Could have been better
2.
a) Made some strides career wise, cemented some good friendships, that sort of thing
b) Seeing them clinch the division in personmouth is something that I’m not forgetting anytime soon.
c) Well, nothing of interest happened in the world in 2011 at all that was monumental in any way, as we all know, so it’s hard to think of anything.
3. Low key, alone. I met up with a good friend earlier in the day over some tea, and that was nice. Ever since I rung in 2010 with lots of purging (if you get my drift), I’ve been more than happy to stay out of the crazy party scene.
4. I am still soliciting suggestions on that. Forms of payment are up for negotiation.
5. Jason Kubel will NOT be the most hated member of the roster, There will be an “MVP” chant for Justin Upton at a snakepitfest, and there will be divisions to be won
6. As anyone who watched X-Files knows, that’s the date the aliens invade. They will look like WIllie Bloomquist.

Gotta admit these are fun
How was 2011 for you overall? Good, bad, indifferent? Pretty solid. Lots of law school stress, but finally get to relax as a 3L. At least until the bar this summer when I won’t be able to watch much of the D’backs.
What moments will stick most in your mind:
a) personally – fiance and I made it through a full year of long distance stronger than ever.
b) as a Diamondbacks fan – the snakes rocking it as opposed to my Dodger fan future in-laws.
c) on a national or global level? – well, don’t want to get political, but I’ll just say Jersey Shore Italy was quite nice.
How did you take in the New Year? – class started today, so I drank some wine and watched the Louisville/UK game on DVR. We lost, but I had a great couple of bottles of Twenty Row Cab.
What are your New Year’s Resolutions? – Diligent about gym so I look good for wedding.
Make three predictions for the 2012 Diamondbacks.
1) Regress a bit in the field and at plate.
2) Improved front 5 and pen.
3) Still take division, but don’t know we advance beyond 2011 playoffs result.
As we all know, the world will come to an end on December 21st, 2012 – likely triggered by the Cubs winning the World Series.
How do you think the end will happen? – People who buy expensive items on credit with no interest until 2013 crush the financial system and anarchy ensues.

Good night, 2011, you brave prince
1) It was pretty great for me. Were there stressful times? Sure. But overall I couldn’t ask for a much better year.
2)a: Had a son, went on a couple kickass vacations (Disneyland and San Fran wooooooo), and had fun most of year.
b: Hard to choose between All-Star Game and the games in San Francisco, but there were a lot of other cool moments, too.
c: Since I’ve been studying politics, and hope to continue to make a career studying politics, 2011 was a great year in many ways. I do wish Occupy people would shut up after awhile, but I haven’t heard from them in maybe a month, so maybe the movement is dying down.
3) I worked, then went to a party for a couple hours, then came home and played Civilization V.
4) Win the division, win the League, win the World Series.
5) We’re eliminated to make way for an intergalactic highway.
Tomorrow is another day.

Might as well chip in
1) I’d give it a C+. Not as many great strides forward as 2010, but a solid year without major mishaps.
2)a) Our film festival had to be a highlight. Batting practice with Cal Ripken another.
b) Sweeping the Giants to clinch the division was incredibly sweet. Being there for Game 3 of the Division Series another. The Tweet-up was very cool. And the continued growth of the community here was the best thing of all.
c) The Japanese tsunami was very unfortunate, but the Arab Spring and the (alleged) death of Osama Bin-Laden were positives.
3) Working till 9:30pm, came home,. pottered on the computer, drank margaritas, in bed by 1am. Mrs. Snakepit didn’t want to stay up, having had a rather fraught day – see her Facebook for details!
4) We’ll win the division, beating out the Dodgers by three games. Daniel Hudson will lead the team in WAR. We’ll reach at least the NLCS this time.
5) Something something Large Hadron Collider.

Okay, I'll play
How was 2011 for you overall? Good, bad, indifferent? Rough year overall.
What moments will stick most in your mind:
a) personally: Not a great year. I’m looking forward to 2013…for political reasons.
b) as a Diamondbacks fan: That hot streak that propelled them from last to first.
c) on a national or global level? Rather not say except “no body, no proof.”
How did you take in the New Year? I was asleep until a friend texted me at exactly midnight. We then argued online about Universal quantifiers until about 3 this morning.
What are your New Year’s Resolutions? None – its a silly custom.
Make three predictions for the 2012 Diamondbacks.
1) D-Backs make another major deal involving either or both of Wade Miley and Tyler Skaggs for another front line starting pitcher.
2) Bauer moves up the rotation and is a solid number two starter by August in time for the stretch drive to the D’back’s second consecutive Division Title and a trip to the World Series.
3) Collmenter no hits the Padres.
As we all know, the world will come to an end on December 21st, 2012 – likely triggered by the Cubs winning the World Series. How do you think the end will happen? I know too many doomsday fools to even venture a comment on this one.
sententia Platonis semper in ore illius fuit, florere civitates si aut philosophi imperarent aut imperantes philosopharentur
On point #3
After no-hitting the Padres, some Snakepitters will say “Good job, but he needs to be in the bullpen.”
sententia Platonis semper in ore illius fuit, florere civitates si aut philosophi imperarent aut imperantes philosopharentur
Well, it *is* the Padres...

But, but, but...
Carlos Quinton, man!
sententia Platonis semper in ore illius fuit, florere civitates si aut philosophi imperarent aut imperantes philosopharentur
Well, lets see
1) I am not sure. To be honest, I don’t remember most of it. So I’ll call it: Incomplete
2)
a) Hmm…this is tough. Especially since I don’t remember most of last year. I guess I have to say going to my cousin’s wedding in Minnesota. It was a baseball theme and right after the entire, “you may now kiss the bride” bit, my father and I started “singing” (but more like screaming) the words to Take Me Out To the Ball Game
b) Without a doubt, spending the entire season on the ‘Pit and discussing the important D’Backs news. And not getting a twitter, HAHA
c) What sticks out to me is that our troops are finally coming home.
3) I took in the New Year by watching that Red Bull No Limits jump on ESPN. I didn’t know midnight struck until two minutes later because I was so captivated.
4) My New Year’s Resolution is to graduate.
5) Three Predictions for the D’Backs, eh?
a) Diamondbacks win the division
b) Diamondbacks win the pennant
c) Diamondbacks win the world series
6) How will it happen? I’m not sure. But it’s probably going to be because of something I did. At least I know I’m going to make a ton of money off of the Apocalypse though.

3. Sitting home with the wife watching movies. It was great.
4. Be the best dad i can be.
5. Upton finally breaks the 100 RBI mark, CY gets a Golden Glove, D’backs win the NL

My Turn!
- How was 2011 for you overall? Meh. It had it’s good points and it’s low points
- What moments will stick with you most?
(A) Good times with Friends that would take to long to list
(B) Definately the RyRo walk off slam. But there were a lot of other moments that I will also remember
( C ) The Arab Spring for the significance that it will have in the future of that area
- How did you take in the New Year? Watching Dick Clarks’ Rockin’ New Year’s Eve with my family wondering what on earth Lady GaGa was supposed to be wearing
- My New Year’s Resolutions: Never make another New Year’s resolution. They are made to be broken
- Three predictions for the 2012 Dbacks: Upton outperforms Matt Kemp. Collmenter will force the Dbacks to keep him in the rotation, even over “Better Talent”. Trevor Bauer will be Rookie of the Year
- How will the world end? Cubs fans will start a riot in Chicago that will slowly spread across the entire globe, and eventually consume the world!

2011 - Great Year
2011 was one of the best years of my life, honestly. My triplets were born in late October. Obviously that made the entire year something crazy but great. Georgia, Jolynne and Mickey are the newest members of the Dback family.
I like the Dbacks to repeat as NL West champs. Hopefully they are able to go further in the postseason, but it is hard to predict that. I think Hudson and Upton take steps forward. I like the addition of Cahill. Looking forward to a full season of Goldschmidt. Concerned about Roberts taking a step back. Still not crazy about LF.
No end of the world anytime soon…

My 2011
How was 2011 for you overall? Good, bad, indifferent? For the most part, good…I accomplished a lifelong goal…I graduated from college
What moments will stick most in your mind:
a) personally: Graduating from college will always be a very memorable milestone & a goal accomplished
b) as a Diamondbacks fan: Ryan Roberts hitting the walk-off grand slam…very memorable. Seeing the players jump in the pool…something that will stick with me forever
c) on a national or global level? Our troops coming home will always be something special
How did you take in the New Year? At home…a quiet night with Bartles & Jaymes
What are your New Year’s Resolutions? To get more serious about my health and get back in better shape
Make three predictions for the 2012 Diamondbacks:
NL WEST Champs
Playoffs
World Series victory
As we all know, the world will come to an end on December 21st, 2012 – likely triggered by the Cubs winning the World Series. How do you think the end will happen? In a totally random way…some sort of catastrophic happening
