SnakeBytes 9/27: Slow Edition
I'll do what I can to post this- I think this wifi is transmitting via telegraph. Which is appropriate for a day having spent practicing for vintage base ball, but it is seriously hampering my 21st century lifestyle...
Recaps:
-
[DBacks.com] D-backs miss chance to gain on Brewers - One bad inning from Hudson was enough to doom the team, unfortunately.
-
[AZ Central] Arizona Diamondbacks fall to Los Angeles Dodgers - Missed out on a chance to take home field advantage from the Brewers, unfortunately. Two games left, we'll have to see if we can make a move.
-
[LA Times] Matt Kemp gets a bit closer to 40-40 in 4-2 win - Pfft, Matt Kemp. That dude is no Andre Ethier, am I right?
-
[FS Arizona] Upton deserves NL MVP award - Tracy Ringolsby certainly thinks that we should see J-Up winning some hardware this off-season...
-
[CBC Radio Canada] Aaron Hill eagerly awaits playoff debut - Way better than spending October leaving Toronto, I imagine.
-
[KFFL.] Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market: Jarrod Parker - Who's excited for Parker's debut tonight?
-
[FS Arizona] Well done, guvna - Now, I know most of you aren't huge fans of the KidKasters... But this was funny.
-
[Yahoo Sports] Fan's look: Winning moments for the Diamondbacks - It's been a pretty good season for the DBacks, in case you hadn't noticed.
-
[CSN Philly] Which NLDS path offers least resistance? - The Phillies think they want to face us. Bring it.
-
[AZ Central] Diamondbacks earn their roaring crowd - Somehow, I'm sure the fact that everyone picked the DBacks to end up 4th, at best, was just more motivation for Gibby..
-
[ABC 15] Celebrate D-backs championship with free cupcake - Aw, man! And I'm too far away from my jersey and hat! But you've got until 8 pm- go get a cupcake.
Around Baseball:
-
[AZCentral] Cactus League: Phoenix losing grip on spring-training baseball - Not Arizona, but Phoenix- the As and Brewers are the only two teams remaining in Phoenix, and they do so in the oldest stadiums in the Cactus League. They may well be moving out to the suburbs soon, too.
-
[NY Times] The Excuses of Billy Beane - Billy Beane thinks baseball is moving back to a "you get what you pay for" system. Well, I guess that means its your job to figure out how to fix that for your team, Billy.
-
[Denver Post] Colorado Rockies' rookies hazed in "Star Wars" tradition - Um. Our Star Wars Day was somewhat less disturbing.
-
[WSJ] Bud Selig Threatens to Kick Los Angeles Dodgers Out of MLB - Wow. Now, that's a gutsy move from Selig. I don't know if he'd be able to make it stick, but still...
-
[USA Today] Will Major League Baseball toss tobacco? - Joe Garagiola approves.
- [Twins Baseball] Twins claim RHP Esmerling Vasquez off waivers from Arizona - Okay, I say this with no sarcasm- we still had Esmerling Vasquez?
- [Full Count] Curt Schilling on D&C: ‘More of it’s on Theo than Tito’ - Curt Schilling says that Theo Epstein is the one to blame for the Red Sox potential collapse. I'm sure that, if they miss the playoffs, the Red Sox fanbase will blame plenty of people.
- [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel] How baseball playoff money is divided - Interesting, I'd never actually considered that before...

It was great fun
AZDBACKR was there, since she was nice enough to give me the tickets, and Sprankton was also there. We had a good time cheering on the Dbacks, and heckling the Dodgers (fyi Kemp is the LVP). A good time was had by all, I think!

Very cool, glad you had a good time
I hope despite the circumstances AZDACKR and Sprankton had a good time, too.

The odd part is he and his office
share a great deal of the blame for that mess.

He is
It would also be interesting to see what would happen if the Dodgers weren’t there next season. Would they redo the scheduels, or would they just have off days when a team is supposed to play the Dodgers?
