SnakeBytes 9/26: Closing Time Edition
Last series of the regular season, folks.
Recaps:
-
[DBacks.com] Minus Upton, D-backs keep pace with Brewers - Even a day later, I flinch at the memory of seeing Justin Upton take that pitch. Scary moment, and hopefully he'll be okay.
-
[AZ Central] Arizona Diamondbacks complete sweep of San Francisco Giants - A sweep is always great. But sweeping the defending champs? Even better.
-
[FS Arizona] Diamondbacks complete sweep of Giants - Josh Collmenter will end his rookie season with a 3.38 ERA- not bad.
-
[SF Gate] Tim Lincecum loses a timid finale - And Josh will end with a .500 record, which is better than Tim Lincecum can say.
-
[DBacks.com] Stakes still high as D-backs host Dodgers - One game back from the Brewers for home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Still plenty to play for.
-
[FS Arizona] Today on FOX Sports Arizona: D-backs vs. Dodgers, 6 p.m. - Daniel Hudson goes to the mound this evening, looking to win our fifth straight.
-
[LA Times] Diamondbacks eye victory in opener with Kemp, Dodgers - Meanwhile, the Dodgers are playing to... Uh... Well, they're probably just glad to be away from Frank McCourt for a while.
DBacks News:
-
[AZ Central] Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt makes quick ascent to majors - He's done a lot to make his presence felt.
-
[FS Arizona] D-backs' NL West-clinching win gets highest rating since 2008 - Some hope that the fans are starting to wake up?
-
[DBacks.com] D-backs' Justin Upton exits game half-inning after beaning - Gibby said that if J-Up passes his impact test, he will be available to play tonight.
-
[FanGraphs] Paul Goldschmidt Adds Dimension in Desert - A lot of love for Goldy today.
-
[Venom Strikes] Dbacks Better 10 Years Later and So Am I - "Ten years ago today, 35,000 of you attended my wedding. Some of you probably remember that day too."
Around Baseball:
-
[Combast Bay Area] Bobbleheads: What's the appeal? - I'll admit- I'm mystified.
-
[HardballTalk] Brewers scratch Yovani Gallardo from Wednesday start - Setting up their rotation for the playoffs- but it might help us out in the seeding...
-
[Hard Ball Times] Ten worst career-ending performances of all time - Not every player goes out on a strong note...
-
[Big League Stew] C’mon Mom! Reds rookie initially red-faced over T-shirts - This is adorable. Too bad he didn't have a better game for it...
-
[Baseball Nation] The Atlanta Braves Owe The Boston Red Sox A Thank-You Card - Everyone's talking about how we might see a late season collapse from the team that looked to have the Wild Card all locked up. But we could see it happen twice.

I don't get the appeal of boobbleheads either
Really. I don’t get it.
You're not alone
but fads go hand in hand with pop culture, so what can you do?

The only thing I have is an unopened Luis Gonzales sculptural figure that was given away years ago
and that DVD of Randy Johnson’s perfect game.

Nice to see
that the fans really showed up for friday’s game. I believe it was a sell out at chase, and with a peak of 190,000 people at home, that’s close to 230,000 people watching the game at the peak viewing/attendence
Reading: It's highly overrated!

Yes, attendance is catching up
and it’s good to see. It’ll carry over to next season, too.
