Free SB Nation Phone App Now Available!
The SB Nation iPhone app is now available in the App Store! And it's Free! Now you can stay on top of all the latest news and commentary for AZ SnakePit and all 300+ SB Nation blogs from your iPhone. If you have one. Which I don't, being a complete Luddite as far as mobile technology is concerned - you can have my Motorola RAZR when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers... But, I have to say - I'm now kinda tempted. This is what it looks like - details, after the jump
With the SB Nation iPhone app you can:- Get the latest, breaking sports news as it happens
- Customize your news with your favorite teams, sports and blogs (which, of course, should naturally include AZ SnakePit!)
- Get notified of updates to the stories you choose to follow on the various hubs, such as SBNation.com, regional sites, Baseball Nation, and MMA Nation
- And this is the big one - read and reply to comments, which has been a bit of an issue on some mobile devices previously.
Here's how to get it:
Go to the App Store on your iPhone and search for "SB Nation"
-- OR --
Go here and click "Download Now"
FAQ
- An Android version of the app is coming soon. Hopefully by the end of the year
- The app is free
- Comments are basic read-and-reply, but SB Nation has plans to enhance them in future updates
- You can use your existing SB Nation user name and password to log in to the app

oooooo…. shiny!
I hope that it has the online features of scrolling through the comments. and better posting than you could do from the web. I hardly ever post when I check the site from my mobile phone b/c it’s rather clumsy now.

Nice!
Just got it on my iPod, looks pretty cool so far. I like that you can set up your “lineup” of blogs you follow to make it easier to keep track of them.

Hi Mark,
if we had notes or bugs, should we send them to you?

I feel
All editors should have been provided with an iPhone for test purposes, but there appeared to be derisive snorting from our overlords at this suggestion… :-)

They are just completely unreasonable about things sometimes.

And then you should just hand them out to random (or maybe not so random) posters as a thank-you

I got one now
its amazing. It makes other smart phones (and I’ve had two other highly regarded smart phones) seem like the old land line phones where one had to ring up an operator to make a call. It’s that good.

That's what I've heard
and if it’s anything like the iPod touch, than I have a feeling that all who have said that are right

I'll have to download that to my iPod Touch :)
Then I can post live from games and be in the threads with you all :)

The GDT's
are going to be much more lively, I think. It will be interesting to see what they look like next SPF

it works?

yes, it works on iPad
I’ll have to see how it works in a GDT, to see if its easy to follow all the comment threads and how it tracks new (vs. read comments).
SInce it appears to have been developed for iPhone (not iPad), you have to use the 2X button to fill the screen, and you are unable (as far as I can tell) to read it in landscape (vs. portrait) .
I set it up to follow the SnakePit, (which could have possibly been added automatically when I signed into my account and grabbed my existing teams & blogs followed).
I don’t much care for the Newsfeed tab as it follows all sorts of sports I have no interest in, I wish the Newsfeed would screen only the teams / sports I follow.

Just wondering
when I set up my account, I used the option of signing in with my Yahoo account. Is there a way for me to sign in that way on the app?

Hopefully there will be differences between new and old comments.

Patience, my pretties...
Android will likely be coming later this year, once they get a bunch of feedback and thoughts on it.

Android users
should be used to having to wait patiently for the iPhone leftovers. It’s like living in Senegal and waiting for the big blockbusters to hit the cinema after a five months delay.

I got the SB Nation app for my iPod Touch
But couldn’t find an actual listing for AZ Snakepit in there after I downloaded it. I found the Purple Row blog. Is there not one for the ’Pit via iTouch?
