Kelly Johnson Traded for Hill/McDonald
Gambo tweeted that the D'Backs have traded Kelly Johnson to the Jays for 2B Aaron Hill and SS John McDonald.
McDonald might be the best fielding SS I've seen this year. Too bad neither one can hit, although Hill has had some success in the past.

So
One under performing Second Baseman for another.
Although, McDonald might spell the end of the Ransom era, and I’m okay with that

Is is actually good, in my opinion.
Right now Hill is probably better than Kelly Johnson. And McDonald is at least a GREAT defensive shortstop, which we can’t really say for Bloomquist or Ransom. I suppose this isn’t a blockbuster, but I’m kinda happy about it.

Well you've grabbed a Jays cult figure in Johnny Mac.
Best of luck rehabbing Hill folks, he could be good if you can fix him.
Maybe Don Baylor can revive Aaron Hill.
If he does we have the chance to control him. I like the idea of McDonald as a defensive replacement.
what....the....crap.....
we gave up a month of Kelly Johnson and the #40ish pick in the draft, and potentially the #20ish pick in the draft….
for two downgrades? one month each of Hill and Johnny Mac? Aaron Hill is much worse than Kelly Johnson at 2B. and why on earth do we need Johnny Mac? our defense is good to the point that diminishing marginal returns aren’t going to help us any. it’s not even like we have extreme groundball pitchers on our staff. his offense is worse than Willie Bloomquist…and he’s freaking 37 years old
jesus christ it makes me so upset that we just traded a High Type B FA (which reads, potential Type A FA). it’s like KT completely forgot the major mistake that was signing Aaron Heilman.
we better hope that their offensive numbers are a sole product of hitting in the AL East (which doesn’t even make sense, because the NL West pitchers are probably better than the AL East pitchers) or that Baylor can work magic, or that by some fluke of god they start hitting again….
A month of ohfers

Honestly
sometimes it feels like this organization hates getting good draft picks from the arbitration process.
aaron hill is a type b
he also has an option so if by some chance he kills it (like ryan church did last year) we can retain him
The risk you guys have
is that Hill’s wage via arb is way higher than his actual value. So if you offer arb he is likely to accept. Is the main reason we were looking to trade him.
I would offer KJ arb
I wouldn’t offer Hill arb. Because Hill sucks.

hill is a type b
but this trade still makes no sense.

Working on putting up a full story now
unless one of them writer folks here is already on it. I’m just a stand-in guy.
