Diamondbacks Sign #7 Draft Pick Archie Bradley, Plus Others

Stay connected for news and updates

It went down to the final minutes - 9pm Arizona/Pacific time - but it is being reported by Jim Callis of Baseball America that Arizona has signed #7 overall pick, Archie Bradley, to a $5 million bonus. With this one having been a compensation pick for failing to sign last year's selection, there would have been no compensation if we failed. So it was great to get him into the organization, and I look forward to seeing him in a D-backs (farm, for now!) uniform soon.

In addition, we signed left-handed pitcher Andrew Chafin (supplemental first, #43 overall), right-handed pitcher Anthony Meo (2nd round, #63) and Michael Perez (5th round, #153). Baseball-Reference.com has the last-named as a pitcher, but Nick Piecoro calls him a catcher, so I'm going with that for now. Chafin got a $875K bonus, Meo $625K and Perez $235K. That just leaves Matthew Price (6th round) and Ben Roberts (7th round) as the top-ten picks who do not appear to have signed by the deadline.

If we hear anything else, we'll update this.
