Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Will Never Top Michael Jordan

Arizona Diamondbacks’ Head Team Physician Dr. Michael Lee issued the following statement on the surgical procedure performed on infielder Stephen Drew’s fractured right ankle by Dr. Peter Mitchell this afternoon in Phoenix.

"Stephen Drew underwent orthopedic surgery in Phoenix this afternoon to repair a severe right ankle injury he suffered yesterday. Dr. Peter Mitchell MD performed internal plating to the fibula bone and repair of the ligaments torn as his cleats caught the ground twisting the ankle awkwardly. All went as expected, and we are optimistic for a full recovery."

Thanks Jim

well, he’s going to set off metal detectors for quite a while now.

Actually

I don’t think titanium rods and screws set off metal detectors… I have some, and when they do the wand, it doesn’t go off.

Guess Albert’s cybergenics dealer wouldn’t do business with Drew. So sad.

Why don't

we just inject stem cells illicitly harvested from a sleeping Bartolo Colon into Drew’s ankle?

Full recovery?

Does this mean he’ll still be our starting shortstop come next season?

I imagine that's the hope

But we do have second base open.

True

but it would be nice if he could recover and become that top 6 or 7 shortstop that he has been the past few years

At the same time

This would be a good off-season to need a SS. Currently writing a roster look-ahead post, and I’ve found that things are promising in the shortstop market for the first time in, like, ever.

Well

the FA market is not my strongsuit, so I will take your word on that. If that’s true, maybe we got luck, with regards to timing

The FA market

also isn’t really the Dbacks’ strongsuit anymore…
