Diamondbacks Farm Round-Up, 6/21: ...and Goldschmidt Homers Edition

Your Daily Goldschmidt. Mobile weren't even playing today, but Paul Goldschmidt still homered. He did so, a two-run shot in the first, as part of the Southern League's All-Star Game, which was full of BayBears. Also taking part: A.J. Pollock (2-for-3, BB, SB), Ollie Linton, Marc Krauss and Patrick Corbin (scoreless inning).

Snakelet of the Day:
Konrad Schmidt (Triple-A): 4-for-5, 3 2B, RBI, 2 R

Triple-A: Reno 13, Las Vegas 6. Wily Mo who? The Aces offense continued to murder opposing pitching, scoring in each of the first six innings and rolling to an easy win over the 51's. Barry Enright struck out eight over six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks, but it was the hitters who shone. Seven Aces had multi-hit games, with SS Cody Random hitting his 17th and 18th bombs. He also walked, and 2B Mark Hallberg also had two hits and a free pass, while 3B Sean Burroughs went right back to his Reno ways, with three hits However, C Konrad Schmidt came out best, with four hits, three for extra bases, and two RBI.

Low-A: Yakima 1 @ Vancouver 4. The Bears offense continues to struggle - while losing four of their first five games, the team has scored a total of only 11 runs. Today, they managed only five hits and one walks, with 3B Mike Bream getting the walk and a single. CF Marc Bourgeois drove in Yakima's only run with a double. Starter Randy Hamrick did his best, allowing two runs over five innings, scattering seven hits and two walks, striking out four.

Rookie: Missoula 4 @ Helena 5. The Osprey let the Brewers get on top early, Helena putting up four runs in the bottom of the third. Starter Enrique Burgos struggle through four innings for Missoula, allowing six hits and two walks, with all but one of the five runs allowed being earned. Keith Hessler steadied the ship out of the pen, with three shutout innings. Although SS Josh Parr brought the Ospreys within one, thanks to a three-run homer in the fifth, that was as near as Missoula could get.

DSL: DSL Diamondbacks 4, DSL Twins 5. The D-backs let the Twins score in each of the first four innings, and although our team clawed their way back in the later innings, pulling within one in the seventh, they couldn't get any closer. Luis Hernandez took the L, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks over five, but did strike out five batters. Jose Gonzalez worked 2.1 scoreless innings of relief. On offense, there were multi-hit games for 3B Ronny Mejias, RF Alan Santiago and CF Yorman Garcia; LF Wilmer Santana got his first homer.

AZL: AZL Diamondbacks 2, AZL Giants 4. The Arizona League Diamondbacks got their season going, under manager Kelly Stinnett, and the bullpen couldn't hold the lead in the opener. Leading 2-1 after seven, Elroy Urbina allowed two in the eighth to get the loss, and the Giants scored another in the ninth. Starter Blake Perry allowed one run over five innings, on four hits and a walk, with four K's, and Ross Gerdeman threw two scoreless innings of relief. 3B Derek Luciano picked up two hits, and DH Pat Donahue got a hit and a walk.
