• [AZ Central] Willie Bloomquist a perfect role model for Arizona Diamondbacks - So, it's the veteran presence thing again. Which, in Bloomquist's defense, he's at least hitting better numbers (though less power) than Tony Clark and he's versatile, so it's not like that's his *only* value.

• [New Times] Arizona Diamondbacks Want a First Baseman Who Plays Defense -- and Why That's a Bad Idea - Kirk Gibson said that the decision for who plays first base will be heavily influenced by their defense. The New Times thinks that's a pretty awful idea, and we should be looking at their bat, not their glove. "First baseman are supposed to mash and destroy. Russell Branyan mashes and destroys the ball.The other guys don't. It isn't complicated." (As an aside, the New Times seems to be making a much better effort at their baseball coverage this season than last. Good to see.)
