SnakePit Fantasy Baseball 2011: Open For Business!

The players have now reported, so it seems a good time to open up SnakePit Fantasy Baseball for another season. We will be running two leagues as before: there will be fourteen teams in Division One, with another league, Division One-A, also being run for others who want to take part. Invitations to a spot in Division One are guaranteed to the top 12 participants there from last season, plus the winner and runner-up from Division One-A in 2010 - if they could step forward and claim their invites, I'll add them to the list.

More info after the jump.

Format will be the same as in previous years: head-to-head, lineups set weekly, with five hitting and five pitching categories. Last year, those were BA, HR, RBI, R and SB for hitters, with ERA, W, Sv, K and WHIP for pitchers, but I'm open to suggestions for changing that. Division One will probably be moving back to Yahoo! from CBS Sports, since it doesn't look like there's any free league forthcoming from the latter this year. I'm certainly not hardcore enough to want to pay to play fantasy baseball!

BattleMoses has offered to run Division One-A this year, so he'll be the go-to man for that. Here's to him surviving the season, as running that league seems to have been a cursed position over the years, with whoever starts it never being around at the end of the season! The draft is a live one, and in previous years, the Sunday a week before Opening Day has seemed to work - gives managers time to get their rosters in order and fix any gaping holes. However, this year, games start on Thursday March 31, so I'm not sure if we should run it on March 27 or March 20. Opinions on that, or other thoughts, are welcome.

For Division One, outside of the two promotees from Division One-A, participants need do nothing at this point - invitations will be sent out shortly [though if your email address on file with league HQ has changed, please let me know]. Everyone else who wants to take part in Division One-A [including Zephon and 'Skins, the two managers relegated from Division One], should post here expressing interest. BattleMoses can then harvest those names and set up the league. It'll be first-come, first served, so get in early.

Think that's it. Any question,s, feel free to ask!
