The extension is for 38.5 million for over 4 years. Since this was his last year in arbitration (and could only make a maximum of 7.2 million based on his filing) that amounts to essentially slightly over 10 million per FA year. Rickie Weeks is actually a great comp for Kelly Johnson, and what he could expect to earn. Same age. Very similar performance history, both even had injuries last year that hurt their value. Weeks is perhaps slightly more touted, but the fact that he's off the FA market next year would actually benefit KJ even more, so I think it balances out. So it now looks like we know exactly what a KJ extension would look like. Is it worth it?
