Diamondbacks left-hander Clay Zavada did not undergo his scheduled physical exam on Sunday night and did not show up for workouts on Monday morning, and General Manager Kevin Towers said the reliever is considering retirement.
"He was having some doubts on wanting to go through this again," Towers said.

Very sad news, if it proves true
One of my fondest SnakePitFest memories is everyone putting on their Zavada mustaches when he came in from the bullpen. Hopefully, whatever he does, he’ll find happiness.
"While Mrs. SnakePit watched one of the most highly acclaimed films of the year, I sat through a badly made schlock fest with absolutely no redeeming value. And it was awesome."
Still have the picture
of our baby grandson with the Zavada mustache on. That was such a fun day.
Well, you don't ever want to miss that.

Clay, if you ever read these forums...
do what is best for you. I very much hope the best for you is to be part of a championship Arizona team, but if not, best of luck and thanks for the great memories.

Unfortunate
I saw this when I was putting together stuff for SnakeBytes, and it kinda breaks my heart. Wish you the best, Clay, hope things work out.

Dangit!!!! I'll miss his might mustache
He was most certainly one of my favorite Dbacks out of the bullpen. I hope things work out for him.

i think it's pretty clear that it's not about the money for Clay
Whatever he finds more enjoyment in should be what he does, plain and simple. He wouldn’t be the same as a baseball player without his infectious happiness if he were to not have his heart in it.

Too bad
We all like a feel good story. The odds were long though. I understand his decision.
The worst major leaguer is better at baseball than I'll ever be at anything I ever do in my life.
Looks like he’s changed his mind.
