Kam Mickolio Going To Pitch In Japan
Say goodbye to pitcher Kam Mickolio...he is on his way to pitch in Japan, says ESPN's Jerry Crasnick on his Twitter page...
Looks like yet another Diamondbacks player is well on their way to Japanese obscurity, much like former Diamondbacks Rusty Ryal, Alex Cabrera, & Chad Tracy in the past few years...I had a feeling he wouldn't be back and would fall victim to being either traded, released, or of course, sent overseas to pitch.

What's one more comeback, anyway?

Good luck to him.
It sucks that he was never able to put it all together in the majors. With his hulking frame and upper 90s fastball, there’s still a lot of untapped potential there, I bet.
Maybe he can pull a Colby Lewis and come back in a few years and have some success. Here’s hoping.

The 97 mph heater is there.
But you gotta believe it’s there. And there needs to be a harvest moon that night.

Actually when i read it i was thinking colby lewis
or a vogelsong. Hey Stupendous, why are you a Dbacks fan if you are a fan of every Houston team. Not complaining just curious

Long Story.
I live in South Texas. My father is from Houston, so I was raised to be a fan of the Astros, Oilers/Texans, and Rockets.
Back in 1998, when the Astros traded for Randy Johnson, he instantly became my favorite player. I was only 12 years old then, and I was crushed when he turned down Houston to sign with Arizona that offseason. But, I kept following his career in Arizona. After a couple of seasons, just following Randy Johnson’s starts turned into following the Diamonbacks as a team. Soon, I was a full-fledged fan of both Houston and Arizona. It gets complicated when Houston and Arizona play each other, but now that the Astros are moving to the AL, it’ll be easier on me.
The 2001 World Series is my favorite sports memory, period. It would have been nice to see Houston do the same in 2005.

You sound like me with the DBacks and Rockies
And a few of my fave ex-Rockies ended up playing here in AZ (Greg Colbrunn and Armando Reynoso, alongside Craig Counsell and Quinton McCracken, who also are former Rockies), plus my friend was working for the DBacks back then, got me a job as an usher at the ballpark my first summer out here…so things all lined up for me as far as being a two-team fan goes…AL team I love is the Angels…
And as far as your ’Stros in 2005 WS, that had to be bittersweet seeing Geoff Blum of all people hitting a monster home run for the White Sox
I got sprayed by Ryan Roberts!!!
It definitely sucked seeing the Blummer hit that HR.
Like watching your uncle steal your tricycle, or something to that effect.

Part of you was cheering because it was him and he was a member of your team...
But on the other hand, his HR took the wind right out of your sails since he was in the opposing team’s uniform at the time he did it…I totally get that

Neat story
I just cant and never will root for two teams in one division. Football for example, I live in Dc and am a die hard cowboys fan but I could never be a Dallas fan and either a Redskin, Eagles, or Giants fan

Five years of minor league service time
And he’s turning 28 in 2012. Bummer it never worked out for him.
Wear your own fur.
Trading Reynolds
got us Hernandez, Mickolio, and opened up a spot at 3B for Roberts. We made out like bandits on that one, even if the Roberts thing was a surprise.
Thanks Kam
for bringing along David Hernandez with you.

I think
he’ll come back in a few years and be a good reliever. He was never really given a shot.

aww, too bad
I really wanted an extended look at him. He wasn’t given much of a chance as a DBack.
That and because I loved Mark Reynolds, and I don’t want just David Hernandez being the only one we have use for in that deal.

As was pointed out above
we really should enclude Roberts with that trade, even if he wasn’t exactly a part of it. When we traded Mark, it opened the spot at 3rd for RyRo, and without him, I don’t think we’re NL West champs
Oh where oh where have my Dbacks gone? Oh where oh where could they be!

I'd make that trade
straight up, knowing what I know about Hernandez
I'm also happy we got Hernandez

The problem is
would the O’s make that trade straight up, knowing what everyone now knows about Hernandez?

We’ve released the Kra-Kam. Wish him the best of luck in his future endevours

Not sure how this works
Did Kam make a deal to play in Japan, then try to get the D-Backs to sell his rights? Or did the D-Backs make the deal with the Japanese team (and, of course, Kam has to report to Japan for the deal to go through)? Surely this isn’t as simple as, say, trading Kam to the Pirates.
D-backs, Kam, and Japanese team all agree, I believe
Rarely difficult to get the player to agree, given that Japanese salaries for players like Mickolio are much higher than what he’d get in the states.

I'm glad we saved some money by getting rid of this scrub
We were able to use it to sign the X-Factor, Willie Bloomquist to a 2 year deal!
SARCASM in every part of this post.
Seriously, I thought KT likes hoarding projectable arms not Bloomquist types. If he hits leadoff again, god help us.
Mickolio is out of options
Would have had to make the Opening Day Roster to stay with the D-backs. Wasn’t gonna happen. Further, I’m sure Mickolio asked to be sent to Japan, given the expected pay-raise. With such little to lose, the D-backs had no reason not to comply.
Also, Mickolio is hardly “projectable” at this point of his career.

Gotta remember he started baseball late
And is from a state without much baseball, he could still figure it out and be as good as a guy his size with his arm should be. As far as the out of options, I did not realize that, so maybe I wasn’t sarcastic about saving money. Didn’t see him on the Opening Day Roster either, just saying he’s still got room to improve, age needs to be taken out of his equation a little. Hope he finds it in Japan.
Sure, but projectable isn't the right term IMO.
