Time to trade Drew?
With the logjam in the infield with Bloomer, McDonald and possibly Hill returning, is anyone else thinking that Stephen Drew is on his way out? The DBacks went 42-18 without him -- and seemed to play with more heart and emotion. While Drew's been solid, he rarely wears his heart on his sleeve. Throw in he's a Boras client, free agency nears, and he's coming off a bad injury. Seems like Towers is lining up his options for a Drew-less 2012, which would be OK with me.

I don't think he's on the way out
We’ll at least let him come back and rebuild some value. If we’re in a position to sell at mid-season, that’ll be the time to do so. As Furcal showed this year, even a struggling, injury-prone shortstop can fetch a non-zero return.

I agree with Dan
It’ll be hard to get even good prospects right now. Honestly what would we have gotten in return for the season Drew had last year. Not very much. The best thing to do is sit on our hands and Drew returns to some kind of form he had prior to last season.

Really bad time to trade Drew now
Doesn’t mean the D-Backs won’t do it, though. SIgh.
I really don't see
exactly how players like Bloomquist, McDonald, and Hill can push Stephen Drew of a team

Especially
when only two of them play short stop and the other plays a different position
Oh where oh where have my Dbacks gone? Oh where oh where could they be!

Not his best position, but Blum played 18 games
at short in 2010, and 208 games there during his career.

Honestly
Even if we were to try to move Drew right now, if I’m every other team in baseball, I’m awfully suspicious that the D-backs are marketing a just-off-a-major-injury shortstop with one year of cheap control left before free agency so that they can instead play Willie Bloomquist and John McDonald there all year.
They’d have to be REALLY sure that he’s going to recover, and there’s no way to be that sure at this point. Don’t think anything’s really possible at this juncture.

I read something the other day about Drew also being surgically treated now for a sports hernia
If that’s the case, it could take him even more time to completely recover

Only about a week to ten days extra, according to the reports.

Josh Hamilton just had surgery for his
And that’s the time frame they’ve given him too so that’s good that Stephen should feel much better soon
